Mercedes-Benz Unveils the New GLA: How to Personalise Australia's Next Compact Luxury SUV

The electric GLA claims up to 657km of range and can charge at up to 320kW. Two versions were shown: a 250+ with rear-wheel drive producing 268hp, and a 350 4MATIC all-wheel-drive version with 349hp and 380lb-ft of torque. A 48-volt hybrid petrol variant, capable of gliding on electric power around town, is coming afterwards.

What's new about the third-generation GLA
The outgoing GLA was a combustion-first small SUV with an EV variant bolted on. This one flips that order: the electric model comes first, riding on Mercedes' new MMA platform shared with the CLA. Mercedes says the packaging gives the new GLA more rear legroom and boot space than its predecessor despite similar exterior dimensions.
Inside, expect the brand's latest MBUX infotainment layout and the ambient lighting and trim choices Mercedes has been rolling out across its newer models. For existing GLA and GLC owners, the styling cues carried over mean many interior accessories sized for current models will still suit the cabin comfortably.
