Chery has confirmed the Stockman — its first ute for our market — and it arrives with a genuinely Australian twist. It will be the country's first diesel plug-in hybrid ute, and Australia is the first international market in the world to get it.

Under the tray sits a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel plug-in hybrid paired with a 34kWh battery, quoting total system outputs of 350kW and 800Nm, a 3500kg braked towing capacity and around 100km of electric-only range on the older NEDC cycle. A dual-cab body launches first, with the ute going on sale in the final quarter of 2026 to rival the BYD Shark 6 and Ford Ranger.

Pricing lands closer to launch, but the Shark 6 starts from $55,900 before on-road costs, so a similar bracket looks likely.
